California Research Report Shows Impact on State

The California Research Bureau recently submitted a report that according to it, the state's gambling industry posses an enormous impact on California's economy and its citizens.

A report mentioned Attorney General Bill Lockyer said that he had commissioned the aforementioned report because of the fast expansion of California's casino market over the past several years.

Currently, the state's Gambling business generates to a total of $13 billion on an annual basis, that is, according the report.

Another finding stated in the submitted report said that Indian Casinos in California make more profits than tribal casinos in any other neighboring state.

They operated as many as 58,100 gaming machines, and offered over 1,820 table games, which includes blackjack and roulette, as of 2004. Up to 90% of all tribal casino employees across California are non-Indians as well, it indicates that these gaming venues create thousands of jobs for their hasting communities.

Also, on the other hand, the report shows that the casinos promote a diverse range of social problems, such as problem gamblers or the kind of people whose addiction gambling addictions harms both themselves and their loved ones.

The report stated that a total number of 589,000 adult Californians are reported to have gambling problems, thus placing the annual cost of adult problem gamblers at nearly $509 million and are typically associated with bankruptcy, unpaid bills, substance abuse and unemployment.
